Love the feel of this. I like the way everything looks like old matchbox cars.

Interesting shot! It sure would have been nice to have a person in the frame just to give a sense of scale.

It may be a matter of semantics (or culture), but I would assume that the picture is of a lumber mill, not lumber yard. Just a guess though.

It's sad to see that many trees cut down.

Where is the person? I don't see anyone.

Yeah, this bothers me too. Artistically it's nice, but think of all the killed trees...

that guy was joking trying to get you to look at the picture for a long time like a moron. There is no person in the picture.

cutting down trees is not bad, not replacing them is bad. Considering wood is approx 50% carbon, well managed forestry helps the environment as maximizing the wood volume taken from a region over a number of tree planting/harvesting life cycles maximizes carbon extraction because the carbon remains in the wood when it is used as a construction material. 300 year old wooden structures still contain the bulk of their original carbon. Save the earth, kill an old tree and plant a new one, repeat until further notice.

I think this is from the hurricane "Gudrun" which struck sweden in 2005. A huge tradegy for many people.

FRED PHELPS WOULD LIKE TO USE YOUR PICTURE FOR NEFARIOUS PURPOSES
  • Hi, thanks a lot you all for commenting. Now i have to say some things: no, there is nobody in the picture, Mare, this is not "good wood" because it is to make paper. I´m not 100% sure that this is a lumber yard instead of lumber mill, but this is the storage place of a paper mill. This image has a copyright: "All Rights Reserved", if you want to use it please send me an email telling me what for, where, etc. you want to use it.

if it is a paper mill, then the trees are probably from a plantation where trees are cut and replanted every 15 years or so. no big worries there.

It's simply amazing how a parking zone looks from the sky. When you are on the street you can't imagine how big is the space for which you're driving.

    Great photo)
It leaves a feeling of an anthill, where a lot of very identical men live - it's a great illustration to how human urge for order and efficiency make people just little screws in the greater system.
